Viridity Energy CEO a Featured Speaker at KEMA Utility of the Future Leadership Forum 2011

Audrey Zibelman to Lead Discussion on the Energy End-Use 'Prosumer'

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - Viridity Energy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President Audrey Zibelman will be a featured speaker at KEMA's fourth annual Utility of the Future Leadership Forum, "Shaping the Future." Zibelman will moderate a panel of industry executives on sophisticated energy consumers -- or 'prosumers' -- at the KEMA forum, June 6-8, 2011, at The Four Seasons, Denver, Colo.

Zibelman will moderate the panel "The Prosumer - Not Just Your Average End User" on Wednesday, June 8. Panel members will include Glenn Steiger, general manager and CEO, Glendale Water & Power, and Byron Washom, director, Strategic Energy Initiatives, UC San Diego. Together, they will discuss how the prosumer is the changing the utility-customer relationship dynamics.

"Smart grid is creating a whole new category of energy market participants, the prosumer," said Zibelman. "These are energy consumers who are also producing their own energy and selling excess energy back into the electricity markets. With FERC's recent approval of the market-based demand response compensation rule, the energy industry is likely to see new markets opening up and accelerated deployment of new technologies. For the utility of the future this means a more engaged customer acting as a valuable partner in maintaining grid reliability and price stability."

The 2011 Utility of the Future Leadership Forum features one and one-half days of discussion about industry game changers; new business models; and changing the traditional roles of utilities, customers, and suppliers. Executive-level panel discussions will focus on CEOs' views of the future utility: the road to sustainability, gas as part of the smart grid paradigm, the integration of new and ever-changing technologies, and consumer and prosumer engagement. Throughout the forum, there will be high-level networking opportunities to share perspectives, collaborate, and engage in dialog.

Senior executives are invited to join their peers in the Utility of the Future discussion to share ideas and discover opportunities to shape a more sustainable, reliable, profitable utility of the future. To register and learn more, visit: kema.com/UtilityFuture2011.
