RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA--(Marketwire - October 21, 2008) - Virtium Technology Inc., manufacturer of memory and storage products for specialized computers in demanding environments, today announced the LeanSTOR AMC Solid State Storage Board to the AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA community as the best-fit storage solution with higher reliability, faster data transfer and larger capacity for direct attached storage elements at system level.

Taking a steep departure from the prevalent technologies that exist in the marketplace today, Virtium's Flash Onboard technology incorporates NAND flash and Module Management Controller (MMC) directly on the MicroTCA SSD, AdvancedTCA SSD and AMC SSD board. LeanSTOR AMC SSD Storage includes software that enables communication between MMC and flash hardware. LeanSTOR's SATA interface optimizes bandwidth with the latest processors and chipsets.

LeanSTOR Solid State Storage is designed as the replacement for existing AMC Solid State Drives (AMC SSD) and AMC Hard Disk Drives (AMC HDD). LeanSTOR AMC Storage provides three times and two times higher reliability to HDD and SSD technologies, respectively, due to the fact that LeanSTOR NAND flash reliability is aligned with other silicon components onboard. In addition, Virtium's middleware seamlessly integrates the communication between the flash hardware, SATA controller to chipset on the AMC Processor, and the MMC. The LeanSTOR SATA Storage Board solution offers fast data transfer rates of 100MB/s read and 67MB/s write, and comes in a select range of storage capacities from 32GB to 128GB. Depending upon the application, users can choose Multi-Level Cell (MLC) or Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND Flash with the standard offering of Error Correction (ECC) and smart wear leveling algorithm to best extend the life of the AMC Storage.
