Virtualization Expert Ran Nahmias to Deliver Technology Deep Dive at Interop NY on Key Visibility, Security Concerns

Net Optics Director of Cloud Solutions Will Discuss Latest Strategies for Gaining Total Visibility and Increasing Security and Compliance in ESX Environments

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 5, 2011) - Net Optics, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent access and monitoring architecture for IT network visibility, insight and control, announces that Ran Nahmias, Director of Cloud Solutions, will speak at Interop New York, addressing visibility issues in virtual environments with a specific focus on new techniques for increasing security. Ran's session will be held on the Interop Show Floor at the Cloud and Virtualization Theater.

Today, an intensifying "tug-of-war" is being waged over maintaining visibility into the data speeding across data centers and enterprise networks. 10G network traffic and increased SSL encryption, along with the highly-switched, redundant, and distributed nature of data center networks, are all degrading the ability of monitoring, security and compliance tools to see traffic on the physical and virtual wire. And what users can't see is what does the damage -- invisibility threatens the benefits of virtualization.

Nahmias will share use cases involving VMware in real-world implementations, demonstrating how to solve lack of visibility and maintain or restore security as well as conduct regulatory compliance. "Monitoring the hypervisor's virtual network traffic is a must," says Nahmias. "Without gaining and maintaining total visibility, users are vulnerable and unprepared when it comes to threats."

Net Optics recently launched its Phantom HD appliance, which Nahmias calls "a game changing solution for monitoring anywhere." Phantom HD optimizes bandwidth utilization for global companies, service providers (SPs) and managed OEM SPs which offer services remotely. It's engineered to help distributed infrastructures and remote branch offices lower IT costs while enabling the utmost in security for their physical and virtual networks.

Coupled with the award-winning Phantom Virtual Tap, Phantom HD allows customers to monitor their virtualized data centers without making heavy capital investment in switching and instrumentation layer devices. Phantom HD aggregates and de-capsulates traffic of interest for monitoring purposes, while the Phantom Virtual Tap filters out traffic that's wasteful to monitor at the hypervisor kernel -- such as backup files -- then sends only that traffic of interest to the Phantom HD, from which it travels to the ideal tool in any location.
