Vishay Intertechnology Launches Infrared Receivers for Universal Infrared 3D TV Shutter Eyewear

Surface-Mount Receivers Feature Reception of Raw IR 3D Synchronization Signals Between 20 kHz and 60 kHz and 800 nm to 1000 nm Wavelength

MALVERN, PA--(Marketwire - Apr 23, 2012) - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) is broadening its optoelectronics portfolio with the release of two infrared (IR) receivers developed specifically for universal 3D TV glasses.

The majority of LCD 3D televisions sold today use active shutter glasses to separate the images intended for the left and right eye. Despite efforts to standardize the technology used to synchronize the 3D TVs with their corresponding active shutter glasses, the industry is far from this goal, and there exists a large number of incompatible IR and RF protocols from various manufacturers. The lack of a standard has led to the development of a market for universal 3D TV eyewear capable of functioning with any 3D TV using active eyewear technology. The new TSMP6000 and TSMP77000 are surface-mount IR receivers designed to receive any infrared signal used for 3D TV synchronization, and this capability simplifies the design of universal 3D TV eyewear.

The TSMP6000 and TSMP77000 integrate a photodiode, amplifier, and signal conditioning IC into a single tiny package that helps minimize the weight of 3D glasses, and their ultra-low current consumption maximizes the battery life. The TSMP6000 and TSMP77000 are surface-mount devices that can be mounted in a side or top view. They both have a viewing angle of 50°, which allows for significant head movement without signal loss. They have high spectral sensitivity from 800 nm to 950 nm and can receive carrier frequencies from 20 kHz to 60 kHz. The TSMP77000 measures 2.3 mm x 3.0 mm x 6.8 mm and has dual lenses while the TSMP6000 measures 4.0 mm x 5.3 mm x 7.5 mm and has a single lens.

Samples of the new TSMP6000 and TSMP77000 are available now. Production orders have a lead time of six to eight weeks. Follow infrared receivers from Vishay at
