Vista Partners Publishes September 2012 Newsletter

Topics Include: Monthly Macroeconomic Commentary, Politics, NFL, NCAA Football, Investment Ideas & More

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 7, 2012) - Vista Partners ("Vista") announced today that it published its FREE macroeconomic/small cap oriented monthly newsletter for the month of September. Each monthly newsletter from Vista contains macroeconomic thoughts from Principal Analyst, Ross Silver, and monthly highlights of each covered small cap company.

Ross Silver, Principal Analyst at Vista Partners, states in the newsletter, "What a great summer for the market, from the beginning of June through yesterday's close the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up a little more than 9%, Nasdaq 14% and Russell 2000 nearly 14%. The question on everyone's mind is can this continue?" Mr. Silver goes on to state, "The correlation between oil prices and the overall market performance is something I follow closely and greatly influences my investment hypothesis as it relates to the overall market."

Vista currently covers Acorn Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACFN), a company focused on making energy better by providing digital solutions for energy infrastructure asset management. Mr. Silver stated the following regarding Acorn Energy, Inc. ("Acorn"): "We would like to highlight that there are now 3.5M shares short Acorn and only 15.4M shares in the public float. Of the 15.4M shares in the public float approximately 5.9M are held by the top three institutional holders. All of the top three institutional holders initiated a position within the last twelve months and some have added to their holdings in the past month. Backing out the holdings of these top three, leaves us with approximately 37% of the public float that is short." Mr. Silver continues, "The short position was initiated a few months ago and since the initiation of the short position, the stock price has remained relatively unchanged or moved slightly higher. The fact that the share price has remained unchanged or moved slightly higher is possibly a nightmare for a short seller considering they have to pay interest on the shares they borrow. Should the share price move higher or even remain unchanged from current levels; the short seller will potentially be forced to cover which means they will buy back shares at higher prices in order to minimize their losses. Buying back the current short position would take approximately 40 trading days which would be a terrific situation for investors long Acorn."

The Companies featured in the FREE September Newsletter are: Acorn Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACFN), ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE MKT: ANX), Algae.Tec Limited, Auxilio Inc., Oculus Innovative Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCLS), Ohr Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OTCBB: OHRP), and PositiveID Corporation. Other companies mentioned are Roche, Regeneron, Pfizer, Lufthansa and others.
