Vistaprint Hosts Inaugural Tech Unplugged Games

Winner athenahealth Donates Winnings to Laps for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

VENLO, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2011) - Vistaprint N.V. (NASDAQ: VPRT), a leading online provider of professional marketing products and services to micro businesses and the home, today announced it hosted the inaugural Tech Unplugged Games at its U.S. subsidiary in Lexington, Mass. on October 20, 2011, and announced athenahealth as the winner of the competition. AutoDesk and Cambridge Interactive Development Corporation (CIDC) finished in second and third places, respectively. For its winning efforts, athenahealth was rewarded an in-kind donation towards a charity of its choice, for which it chose the Laps for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Tech Unplugged Games were created by Vistaprint and a third party vendor, to invite the brightest technology companies in the state of Massachusetts to compete in problem solving when computers and other technology advancements were stripped from participants. The format consisted of a combination of traditional puzzles and games that had to be completed without the use of the use of technology. Teams from the greater Boston area included Akamai, athenahealth, Autodesk, CIDC, NetApp, Microsoft Corporation, Progress Software, and RSA. As the host company for the inaugural event, Vistaprint did not compete.

We're hoping to make events like this a recurring initiative moving forward, with other companies hosting and bringing in different competitive teams."

Teams were rewarded 10 points for each puzzle completed, with a 50 point bonus rewarded for correctly completing all 15 puzzles. Teams were also given the option to play games where upon completion they would receive an extra puzzle, a hint voucher for a puzzle, or a playing card, which could be used to make traditional poker hands which held different point values. The overall objective of the game was to score the most points within a 90 minute time period.

The mixture of word puzzles and games of manual dexterity was genius," said Andrew Wagner, lead developer at athenahealth. "It forced us to strategize as to which team members would take on which task at which time, and how to spend our hard-won game tickets wisely.
