Visual Numerics® and Leading Chinese Universities Partner to Teach Students the Fundamentals of Sophisticated Numerical Analysis

Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University Sign Campus License Agreement for Use of IMSL™ Numerical Library and PV-WAVE® Advantage

SAN RAMON, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 22, 2005 -- Visual Numerics, Inc., a leading provider of numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced that it has partnered with Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University, two of China's most prestigious universities, to provide students with access to the industry's most comprehensive computational and visual data analysis tools, the IMSL Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE. As part of China's focus on seeding the next generation of technology innovators, both Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University have signed campus license agreements with Visual Numerics. By using the IMSL Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE, students and professors will be able to leverage different programming environments such as Fortran, .NET, C/C++ and Java™ to develop sophisticated data analysis applications for a variety of computationally based disciplines such as engineering, mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, aerospace, oil and gas, and life sciences. This pairing also allows these leading universities to leverage their already impressive hardware capabilities. They are known to house some of the most advanced computing capabilities in the country.

Tsinghua University, rated the top university in China, will deploy Visual Numerics' offerings throughout its campus, providing access to its 32,328 students, including 5,223 masters students and 4,659 doctorate candidates.

Zhejiang University, ranked first in Eastern China and third among China's top 10 universities, will extend Visual Numerics' offerings to its 42,845 full-time students, including 11,207 masters students and 5,525 doctorate candidates.
