Visual Numerics® Opens European Headquarters in The Netherlands, Hires Martijn Burger as Director of EMEA

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - July 10, 2007) - Visual Numerics, Inc., celebrating 36 years of producing advanced numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced that it has opened an office in Hilversum, The Netherlands, which will serve as the Company's European headquarters. Visual Numerics also announced former FileNET Regional Vice President of Northern Europe Martijn Burger joined the Company as Director of EMEA, also based in The Netherlands. This expansion and strategic hire enables Visual Numerics to better serve its growing customer base in Europe, and take advantage of new market opportunities in Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

Visual Numerics works with a number of prestigious European customers including Philips Global, Rolls-Royce, Max Planck Institute, Société Générale, and Gesellschaft Fuer Trendanalysen (GFTA), as well as companies in financial services, aerospace and other critical research markets such as weather forecasting. He has over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, business development and services for technology companies across diverse cultures. Prior to joining Visual Numerics, Martijn was the Regional Vice President Northern Europe for FileNET, an Enterprise Content Management company, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California. At FileNET, he formulated and implemented growth strategies to penetrate selected national and international markets and industries, including insurance, banking and financial services, telecommunications, government, and manufacturing. Prior to FileNET, Martijn served Interwoven and MediaSurface as regional director. He is a graduate of the Advanced Economics and Administration University in the Netherlands and speaks four languages: English, French, German and Dutch.
