New Application Performance System From Fluke Networks Pinpoints Performance Slowdowns to the Individual Transaction for Faster Problem Resolution and Lower Operational Costs

EVERETT, WA--(Marketwire - March 20, 2008) - Fluke Networks today announced Visual Performance Manager 4.0, a new release of Fluke Networks' performance management system. This release offers a new, high-end application performance appliance coupled with a patented software analytics engine, as well as enhanced integration of data sources. This new set of capabilities is unique to the performance management space, and for the first time allows users to pinpoint exactly where performance slowdowns occur, permitting faster problem resolution.

Visual Performance Manager 4.0 helps organizations increase control and optimize delivery of business services in a multi-tier application environment. For critical applications, such as Oracle, Citrix, Microsoft SQL and MySQL, the new application performance appliance in Visual Performance Manager 4.0 provides end-to-end transaction visibility from the back-end server farm to the remote site end-user. Not only does it support rapid identification of the problem domain -- application, network or server -- but also provides the ability to drill down into the specific tier of the application that may be causing the problem.

This Visual Performance Manager 4.0 release also offers unified features to improve the efficiency of IT teams. This includes a common definition of data sources for applications, sites and clients, and an event viewer that integrates alarms from multiple infrastructure data sources and from dedicated Visual Performance Manager data collection hardware. In the new release, Visual Performance Manager 4.0 supports multi-tenancy to facilitate managed services provisioning.

Visual Performance Manager 4.0 also offers a new intelligent alarm view which "learns" based on real-world data. The event viewer unifies alarms from data sources such as Visual Performance Manager Analysis Service Elements (ASEs) and the application performance appliance. This provides a more efficient way to handle exception incidents, allowing IT departments to focus their limited resources on resolving the most critical issues.
