VitalWare to Host Complimentary 3-Part Webinar Series, Preparing Healthcare Professionals for ICD-10 Procedure Coding

YAKIMA, WA--(Marketwired - July 16, 2015) - Today, VitalWare™ announced that they will host a 3-part complimentary webinar series preparing healthcare professionals for the implantation of ICD-10-PCS coding. This educational series will be held in three, complimentary events, beginning Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:00am PT / 1:00pm ET.

Led by VitalWare's Jodi Stewart, RHIA, CCS and AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, "What's the Diff?: ICD-9 vs. ICD-10 Procedure Coding" will break down the differences between today's procedural coding guidelines and what can be anticipated with ICD-10-PCS so medical coders can easily adapt to the new requirements for assigning accurate procedures with the new ICD-10-PCS codes.

Ms. Stewart has more than 25 years' experience in healthcare, including 20 years in an acute care hospital setting. She is versed in inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing, coding education, chargemaster support, HIPAA Privacy, patient access, healthcare quality, accreditation, and patient satisfaction.

Attendees are eligible to receive up to three CEU's for attending the entire series and will leave with a better understanding of the ICD-10-PCS coding system design and root operation groups, including common coding scenarios, to be better prepared for utilizing ICD-10-PCS codes with confidence and efficiency. VitalWare will present coding examples from various specialties and commonly performed procedures to demonstrate the opportunities for the greater specificity that the ICD-10 code set will provide.

Part 1 will start with a brief history and overview of the ICD-10-CM/PCS classification system and focus on the ICD-10-PCS Medical and Surgical section.

Part 2, held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 10:00am PT / 1:00pm ET, will take a deeper dive into the ICD-10-PCS Medical and Surgical section through a comparison of Medical and Surgical root operations.

Part 3, held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:00am PT / 1:00pm ET, will provide an overview of the Official Guidelines for ICD-10-PCS coding related to additional ICD-10-PCS sections such as obstetrics, placement, administrative, physical rehab, mental health and others.
