VitaminSpice Expands Management Team Naming Dr. Marc A. Meyers as Chief Scientific Officer and V.P. of R&D

WAYNE, PA--(Marketwire - February 10, 2011) - VitaminSpice (OTCBB: VTMS) (German WKN: A0YE4L) (www.vitaminspice.net), a pioneer in the emerging Foodceutical industry, today announced the appointment of Marc A. Meyers, Ph.D., as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and Vice President of R&D, effective February 9, 2011. Dr. Meyers brings over two decades of experience in food technology and wellness ingredient development. He will play an integral role in leading VitaminSpice's research efforts to drive innovation for its microencapsulation solutions.

As the competitive landscape becomes increasingly complex, VitaminSpice will continue innovating to deliver safe and cost effective functional food products and technologies. Dr. Meyers' expertise in food technology and delivery systems will ensure that the company is on the forefront of Food Technology and Microencapsulation development. Dr. Meyers has been a guest speaker at International Symposia on Micro Encapsulation and Food Technology. Furthermore, Dr. Meyers runs an annual Food Microencapsulation Conference. 

Currently, Dr. Meyers serves as Managing Principal R&D Consultant for Meyers Consulting, LLC, where he advised top multinational food and nutrition companies in developing new technologies and micro-encapsulation processes for the advancement of wellness supplements and functional ingredients. An accomplished presenter with numerous publications, Meyers has acquired many accolades over his career: 36 patents (19 U.S. /17 international) in encapsulation, edible films, flavor technology, hydrocolloids and novel confectionery applications. In addition, he holds 12 Patent Cooperation Treaties (PCTs).

As Director of Product Development for Pinnacle Foods Corporation (owners of the Duncan Hines®, Log Cabin®, and Mrs. Butterworth's® brand names) he helped launch 4 new innovative products and helped build a retail presence for a new concept brownie, leading to product penetration in 15,000 stores. Moreover, Dr. Meyers has held various R&D leadership positions at the Vice President and Director level in product development with Firmenich, Natrol, M&M Mars and Rhodia Food Ingredients (formerly Rhone-Poulenc and currently part of the Danisco texturizers business).

Meyers holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is an Adjunct Professor of Food Science and Nutrition at Montclair State University, Hunter College-CUNY in New York City and also teaches a class on Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals at Rutgers University.
