Viterra Assumes Full Operation of the Montreal Port Authority's Grain Terminal


CALGARY, ALBERTA and MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 4, 2011) - Viterra Inc. (TSX:VT) (ASX:VTA) and the Montreal Port Authority ("MPA") today announced that Viterra has commenced operation of the Grain Terminal previously managed by the MPA. This follows the April 21, 2011 announcement by Viterra and the MPA of a definitive lease agreement.

The grain terminal is licensed as a transfer elevator by the Canadian Grain Commission and has a storage capacity of 262,000 metric tonnes.The terminal's location enables it to operate year round. Serviced by a port railway, it has direct access to both CN and CP rail networks. It also provides direct shipping routes to various destinations in Canada, the US and Europe.

The agreement was signed following a selection process led by the MPA, and successful due diligence conducted by Viterra. On May 2, 2011, Viterra further strengthened its presence in Eastern Canada by opening a new merchandising office in Montreal that will source and market food ingredients to key destination markets in Canada, the US and Europe, while complementing terminal operations by facilitating the efficient movement of grains and oilseeds through its value-added pipeline.
