Industry's First GE & 10GE PHYs Enabling Cost-Effective, End-to-End MACSec Encryption & IEEE1588v2 Network Timing Synchronization Over Cloud and Multi-Operator Networks

CAMARILLO, CA--(Marketwired - May 22, 2013) - Continuing its drive to strategically advance Carrier and Enterprise Ethernet technology, Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: VTSS) introduced the latest generation of its SynchroPHYGigabit Ethernet (GE) and 10GE portfolio which delivers a new paradigm to cost-effectively secure cloud applications. The industry's first to enable network-wide Layer 2 MACsec encryption and preserve nanosecond-level IEEE 1588v2 network timing accuracy, the new physical layer transceivers are ideal for securing cloud network applications including e-commerce, database, collaboration, video, and enterprise or government communications.

Enabling this are technologies exclusively available from Vitesse including:

  • VeriTime™: the industry's highest accuracy IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol implementation for nanosecond-accurate network timing and synchronization; and
