LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - April 04, 2014) -
- ViXS Systems Inc. (TSX: VXS), a pioneer and leader in media processing solutions, today announced that Toshiba will be using the ViXS XCode 6400 System-on-Chip (SoC) to decode and display in real time Ultra HD (UHD) video streaming from the latest Toshiba ExaEdge 4Kp60 Broadcast Video Server in the Toshiba Booth at NAB 2014 in Las Vegas. NAB is the world's largest electronic media conference covering creation and consumption of media across multiple platforms. The Toshiba booth is located in South Hall Upper Level in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth#: SU2206.
This demonstration represents a deployable UHD 4K broadcast solution, with Toshiba's ExaEdge video server being the headend and the ViXS XCode 6400 SoC being utilized as a client STB/gateway. By utilizing 10-bit High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), the solution keeps bandwidth demand manageable as UHD content starts to roll out. ViXS is helping propel the broadcast industry towards commercially deploying UHD 4K by providing silicon solutions across the broadcast distribution value chain, including encoders, decoders, and transcoders for the cloud, and SoC's for consumer equipment.
"Toshiba expects the newest ExaEdge will lead the market in deployable 4K Video Server solutions, and we needed a partner with equally innovative and commercially ready product to make our demonstration compelling," said Mitsuru Otani, Technology Executive, Broadcasting, Communication Network Systems, Community Solutions Company, Toshiba. "ViXS was the clear choice because they have the first and only shipping SoC for Ultra HD 4Kp60 content using 10-bit HEVC."
"ViXS is proud to partner with a market leader such as Toshiba on this impressive demonstration," said Sally Daub, President and CEO, ViXS Systems Inc. "ViXS is working closely with Toshiba and all our other partners and customers to rapidly integrate our XCode 6400-based family of silicon solutions, showing the broadcast industry that Ultra HD 4K is ready to deploy now."
ViXS will be demonstrating the XCode 6400, XCodePro 330 and other broadcast solutions in Suite D4107-109 in the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel.
