VOI Networks Deploys Exalt Systems for Internet Connectivity at Holiday Inn Airport West

Exalt Wireless Systems Deliver Fiber-Speed Performance at Far Lower Cost Than Fiber

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 19, 2014) - Exalt Communications, Inc., the leading innovator of next-generation wireless connectivity systems for private networks and Internet infrastructures, today announced that VOI Networks of Winnipeg, Manitoba has deployed Exalt microwave backhaul systems to provide secure and reliable Internet connectivity to the Holiday Inn Airport West in Winnipeg, eliminating the need for the hotel to lease costly fiber lines. VOI Networks is a wireless Internet service provider and Exalt partner serving greater Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal.

The Holiday Inn Airport West is a 226-room hotel and conference center, and it needed a reliable, high-speed connection to the Internet for overnight guests and conference attendees who use every Internet service, from e-mail and Web browsing, to video streaming of Netflix and Hulu movies. These applications require a fast and reliable Ethernet connection, but monthly recurring lease costs for fiber connectivity were prohibitive. The Holiday Inn Airport West chose instead to lease wireless connectivity from VOI Networks, which deployed Exalt ExploreAir 18GHz microwave systems to span the 8-kilometer distance between the hotel and the VOI Networks point of presence across town. The system has remained reliable through snowstorms and record cold temperatures.

"The Exalt systems deliver outstanding price/performance and enable us to connect customers to our network quickly and easily," said Richard Jones, CEO of VOI Networks. "The company's customer service sets Exalt apart as well, another factor in our choice to use Exalt systems in many of our customer deployments. We have plans to greatly expand our use of Exalt systems over the next two years."

The Holiday Inn Airport West is pleased with the performance and reliability of the network. "It gives us fiber-speed performance with significant cost savings over leased fiber lines," said J. Bruce McKay, CHA, general manager of the Holiday Inn Airport West.

"The demand for Internet access continues to spread throughout the world, but simply supplying Internet service to customers doesn't guarantee success for service providers," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "The Internet revolution has brought with it smartphones, tablets, and a new set of customer demands such as high definition video streaming, and a new set of challenges including rapidly changing technology and severe capital constraints. The wireless Internet service providers like VOI Networks who will thrive in this environment are those who make the right choices in technology, while keeping expenses low to enable the shortest ROI time possible."
