Voices for Change: CARAS Chooses Bullfrog Power's Green Electricity for the 2015 JUNO Awards

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 10, 2015) - For the eighth consecutive year, The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS) and The JUNO Awards will be bullfrogpowered® with 100 per cent green electricity. Set to take place from March 9 to 15, 2015, in Hamilton, Ontario, the 2015 JUNO Awards are striving to be a model for best practices in event sustainability.

"To change Canada's energy, we need strong Canadian voices. The artists Bullfrog Power works with across Canada are committing to green power for their shows and inspiring that commitment in their fans," said Josephine Coombe, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Consumer Sales, Bullfrog Power. "CARAS and The JUNO Awards are leaders in supporting green energy and, through their unique position in Canadian culture, there is a real chance to enliven our national conversation about energy and the environment through music."

In the past year, Bullfrog Power has announced more partnerships with Canadian artists choosing green electricity for their shows than at any point in the company's history.

This year, CARAS is bullfrogpowering all 2015 JUNO Awards event venues, over 1,725 hotel room nights and the CARAS head office. This means that Bullfrog Power's generators will put 458 megawatt hours of green power onto the grid to match the amount of electricity consumed by venues, hotel stays and the head office. The total amount of green energy is equivalent to the electricity used by approximately 1,900 Canadian households in one week. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

2015 JUNO events that will be bullfrogpowered include JUNO Awards Press Conferences, the Chairman's Reception and JUNO Welcome Reception, JUNO Cup, JUNOfest, JUNO Fan Fare, JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards, JUNO Songwriters' Circle, The 2015 JUNO Awards Broadcast, among others.

2015 JUNO nominees that support renewable energy through Bullfrog Power include Sam Roberts Band, Andrew McPherson of Eccodek and Chris McKhool of Sultans of String. This year, Canadian icons The Tragically Hip are bullfrogpowering all of the Canadian dates of their ongoing Fully and Completely tour. In 2014, Bullfrog Power and The Sheepdogs-the four-time JUNO Award-winning rock band-partnered to raise awareness about green power. Across the country, many leading musicians have bullfrogpowered their homes, tours, concerts or companies, including Billy Talent, Blue Rodeo, Dave Carroll, Dave Gunning and k-os.
