Volkswagen Extends Big Game Streak to Fifth Consecutive Year

Brand to Premiere New 60-Second Spot

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Dec 20, 2013) - Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today it will advertise during the Big Game for the fifth consecutive year. With a winning game plan packed in its spacious trunk, Volkswagen is excited to roll into the Meadowlands and celebrate another exceptional year on advertising's biggest night.

Volkswagen's 2014 entry follows up a successful 2013 campaign that achieved widespread attention from brand enthusiasts and ranked as the number one ad on Brand Bowl and landed within the top five Big Game ads on Hulu.

Volkswagen launched their Big Game advertising blitz last year by embracing the infectious optimism of reggae and encouraging fans to enjoy the "The Sunny Side" of life.

Building on the teaser's positive vibes, Volkswagen released "Get Happy," a humorous spot that paired the redesigned Volkswagen Beetle with the relaxed mindset that the iconic car inspires. Viewers responded very favorably to Volkswagen's lighthearted touch, appreciating the company's reminder that it's important to take a moment to enjoy life and smile. To date, "The Sunny Side" and "Get Happy" spots have garnered over 25 million views.

Volkswagen's 2014 Game Day commercial and social media support will build on the brand's tradition of sharing simple, human stories. Volkswagen's reputation as a Big Game pioneer is firmly cemented after being the first company to release the spot online before the Big Game with "The Force" in 2011 and was also the first to release a teaser video for the spot itself in 2012. This year, Volkswagen is excited to thrill audiences with a new spot that is uniquely Volkswagen.
