Innovative Contest Challenged Families to Share and Celebrate Friendship

KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 29, 2013) - Want to be inspired by some great, friendship-focused videos and help decide who wins a prize package worth $2,500?

The final phase of the Just Be Friends™ family video contest, that allows members of the public to like their favourite choices online and help decide which of three finalists wins the top prize, is now open!

"This contest provided a great way to get the whole family talking about the value and meaning of friendship while giving kids something fun and positive to do," says Just Be Friends™ founder and CEO Janice Taylor. "We were so impressed with the creativity and thought that went into the videos that were submitted, and it was a difficult task to narrow them down to three finalists."

The contest challenged families across the country to create and submit a short video that captured what friendship means to them. The three finalists, which are now posted on the Just Be Friends™ YouTube channel, were judged on a variety of factors including popularity, creativity, emotional impact and how well they reflected Just Be Friends'™ commitment to celebrating and promoting friendship and positive social behaviours.

Members of the public have until Wednesday, November 6 at noon (PST) to vote for their favourite by liking their top choice. The video that receives the most likes on YouTube will take the top prize of $1,000 cash, a $1,000 donation to their school, an Apple iPad Mini, a backpack full of goodies, a six-month subscription to Just Be Friends™, and the opportunity to have their video featured in a national marketing campaign for Just Be Friends™.
