Voter Information Cards Are in the Mail

Registered electors should receive their card by Wednesday, September 24, 2008

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 17, 2008) -

- Elections Canada has mailed 23,455,000 personalized voter information cards to electors who are on the lists of electors.

- Electors who do not receive their voter information card by Wednesday, September 24, 2008, or who receive a card with incorrect information, should contact their local Elections Canada office no later than 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.

- Electors who receive a card for a deceased person or someone unknown at that address should also contact their local Elections Canada office.

"The voter information card tells you where and when to vote," says Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand. "It is not an identification document. You'll still need to bring identification like a driver's licence, or other authorized documents that prove your identity and address."

Elections Canada is an independent body set up by Parliament.
