The VOX Virage™ -- A New Type of Electric Guitar From a Legendary Name in Guitar Amplification

Original Features Include Proprietary Electronics for Delivering Multiple Sounds in a Single Instrument Plus a 3-Dimensional Carved Body, for Versatile Sound, Comfort and Playing Ease

MELVILLE, NY--(Marketwire - July 15, 2009) - VOX Amplification has been a leading musical instrument technology innovator for over 50 years. In the 1960s, VOX amps defined the "sound" of the musical British Invasion, as did their classic electric guitars. Since then, VOX has created a wide range of products that combine its historic legacy with modern innovation. Its new semi-hollow body electric guitars, the VOX Virage™ DC (double cutaway) and Virage SC (single cutaway), offer guitarists an instrument that is classic and familiar, yet improves the playing experience associated with semi-hollow instruments in a way that has never been done before, via multiple technological innovations.

Both Virage models offer a number of distinctive features, including ergonomically carved bodies (both along their length and across their width, unlike other guitars) that are curved, allowing the guitar to "hug close" to the player and providing a comfortable right arm playing position and overall playing comfort.

Electric guitars need pickups to convert the sound of their strings into electrical energy a guitar amplifier can "hear" and make louder. Typical electric guitars use one or two variations of pickups that generally produce a very limited range of different sounds. Virage guitars employ the proprietary VOX Three-90™ Pickup System, which uses two triple-coil pickups to deliver "clean," "crunch" and "lead" tones. It's like having Smooth Jazz, Rock and Heavy Metal sounds at the player's fingertips in one instrument. The Three-90 pickups were designed and built in the USA by DiMarzio, a leading guitar pickup manufacturer.

Most semi-hollow guitars have a heavy hardwood block inside to stop uncontrollable feedback common to this type of guitar when played at high volume. The Virage utilizes a lightweight Integral Tonebar™ construction to carefully manage feedback issues without dampening the guitar's singing tone.

The VOX Virage SC single cutaway and Virage DC double cutaway are currently available. The average price at retail outlets is $2499.00 and $2599.00, respectively. Additional product information and a dealer locator can be found at: www.VoxVirage.com.
