W Magazine Announces the First Annual "W: The Art Project"

Searching for America's Most Talented Young Photographer to Be Featured in W

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 29, 2009) - W magazine announces its first annual art contest: "W: The Art Project," searching for America's most talented young photographer. Coinciding with the magazine's 4th annual Art Issue, "W: The Art Project" invites emerging, talented artists to share their works of photography, and gain a connection with some of the most influential art personalities working today.

"Photography is such an integral part of W magazine," Dennis Freedman, W's Creative Director said. "We have always strived to work with the most talented photographers in our field, and think it's only fitting to host a contest that showcases up and coming new photographers."

Beginning October 1, 2009 through December 1, 2009, one photograph per participant capturing the theme of "Obsession," can be submitted through http://www.WDesires.com/theartproject. Entries collected will be evaluated by the following renowned panel of art experts:

Patricia Lanza, Talent Manager, Annenberg Space for Photography
Thao Nguyen, CAA Agent
Gladys Palmer, Academy of Art University, Executive Director of Fashion
Blair Voltz Clarke, Art Consultant
Allen Murabayashi, Photoshelter, CEO

20 semi-finalists will be selected by the judges and then the public will be able to vote online at http://www.WDesires.com/theartproject to determine the top five finalists. The judging panel will then name the grand prize winner.

The winning photographer will receive three-month consultation by art consultant Blair Voltz Clarke, a year-long membership to PhotoShelter.com, a Nikon™Professional Grade DSLR camera, and their work will be seen in the pages of W.
