WABCO Announces Supply Agreement for New Generation of Trailer Air Disc Brakes With One of Europe's Largest Manufacturers of Commercial Trailers

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - June 29, 2011) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that it has entered into a long term agreement with one of Europe's largest manufacturers of commercial trailers to supply WABCO's new generation of air disc brakes for trailer axles, starting with series production in 2013.

Through pioneering engineering, WABCO's new generation of 22" trailer brakes combines single-piston technology with an innovative compact design and covers trailer axle applications up to 10 tons. It delivers high performance braking but weighs only 70 pounds (32 kilograms) including brake pads, and thus it is one of the lightest trailer air disc brakes of its kind. As a result, trailers can increase payload and improve fuel economy while also reducing maintenance and service costs due to thicker brake pads.

"This additional business with one of Europe's largest makers of commercial trailers is yet another mark of WABCO's technology leadership as we expand our breakthrough single-piston air disc braking technology into specific trailer applications," said Nikhil Varty, WABCO Vice President, Compression and Braking. "We are proud that one of Europe's technological market leaders in trailers and semi-trailers has made a long term commitment in favor of early adoption of WABCO's new generation of high performance, low weight 22" trailer brakes."

Currently, WABCO furnishes this leading trailer maker with single-piston air disc braking technology for 19" and 22" rim sizes through WABCO's PAN range, recognized as one of the industry's most successful ranges of air disc brakes.
