WABCO Begins Supply of High Performance Vacuum Pumps for Diesel Engines in Passenger Cars at Volkswagen Group

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM--(Marketwire - December 1, 2010) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial and automotive vehicle industry, today announced that the company has started to supply vacuum pumps for series production for two main diesel engine programs within the Volkswagen Group: the 1.6 liter diesel engine from Volkswagen and the new 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine developed by AUDI.

WABCO vacuum pump technology is superbly engineered to employ a single vane design, which means using one simplified rotating blade. First introduced to the market in 2001, this technology offers compact design and lowest possible power consumption, resulting in improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.

"WABCO's single vane vacuum pump technology provides an outstanding opportunity for car makers to boost fuel economy while producing cleaner, greener vehicles, as we continue to raise the standard of performance for automotive engine-driven vacuum pumps," said Mike Thompson, WABCO Vice President, Car Systems. "We are passionate about continuing to deliver innovative, cost-effective and easy-to-install solutions to meet the growing global demand for automotive vacuum pumps that offer high performance and ultra-low power consumption."

With more than 50 years of experience in vacuum pump design and production, WABCO currently furnishes a global base of passenger car manufacturers. WABCO has automotive vacuum pump production facilities in Europe and at a new site in Qingdao, China.
