WABCO Presents Latest Breakthrough Technology in Electronic Tire Pressure Monitoring for Commercial Vehicles at ComTrans 2011 in Moscow

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and MOSCOW, RUSSIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 12, 2011) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today presented its new IVTM™ system, which is the company's latest breakthrough technology for integrated monitoring of tire pressure on trucks, trailers and buses.

WABCO unveiled this unique and innovative technology at ComTrans 2011, the largest commercial vehicle exhibition in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the industry's largest international trade show in Europe in 2011.

WABCO's new IVTM system together with TrailerGUARD™ telematics provides drivers and fleet operators with real-time pressure information. It helps maintain tire inflation at optimum level and, as a result, reduces fuel consumption by up to 2 percent.

It also improves vehicle safety as correct tire inflation enables better road handling and shorter braking distance. In addition, it detects slow leaks, which contribute to heat build-up, the cause of the majority of tire failures.

WABCO's new IVTM system increases the lifetime of tires by up to 20 percent. It fits all wheel sizes and all types of light, medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles. The new system's battery also lasts 20 percent longer than previously.

"WABCO's latest breakthrough technology for pressure monitoring is the industry's only tire information system of its kind," said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, WABCO Vice President, Vehicle Control Systems. "Our unique IVTM system continues WABCO's technology leadership in electronic tire pressure monitoring for trucks, trailers and buses in every region of the world. It enables vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket customers to benefit from WABCO's newest advancements in vehicle efficiency and safety."

WABCO's new IVTM system consists of external wheel-mounted sensors that constantly measure tire pressure and wirelessly transmit data to an electronic control unit, which in turn displays real-time information and appropriate alerts on the truck's dash-mounted display. With WABCO's award-winning TrailerGUARD telematics, fleet managers can remotely monitor every vehicle's tire pressure via a web portal.

WABCO introduced its IVTM system as the commercial vehicle industry's first tire monitoring system in 2003 in partnership with Michelin. IVTM is a trademark of Michelin.

At ComTrans 2011, WABCO will highlight its electronic stability control (ESC) technology, among other innovative systems and products. WABCO pioneered ESC for commercial vehicles in 2001 and has continued to innovate this safety technology ever since. ESC improves directional stability and helps protect against roll-over, skidding, spinning and jack-knifing. WABCO has sold more than 100,000 ESC systems since its introduction.

Headquartered in Moscow, WABCO Russia conducts marketing and sales of the company's broad portfolio of innovative technologies, systems and services. It supplies local manufacturers of trucks, trailers and buses as well as aftermarket customers across the CIS through a national network of four sales offices and more than 140 service points. WABCO has been serving markets within the CIS for more than 40 years.
