Hawaii's Food and Wine Festival Features the Works of The Waikiki EDITION's Masaharu Morimoto and Kaleo Adams

HONOLULU, HI--(Marketwire - Aug 22, 2011) - Foodies from around the world will have the opportunity to unite along with world class chefs and top-tier vintners at an all-new event planned in part by The Waikiki EDITION hotel in Honolulu and chefs representing premier Waikiki, Hawaii restaurants.

A perfect reason for an escape to paradise, the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival, set for September 29 through October 1, 2011, will include exciting cooking demonstrations by world-class chefs, wine tastings, culinary workshops, industry seminars and field excursions. Breathtaking scenery, mouthwatering fare and opulent Waikiki beachfront hotels can easily combine for a delightful and inspired Hawaiian vacation with attendance at this premier event.

Inspired by the ancient Hawaiian tradition of ahupua'a, an interdependent system of sustainability, the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival promises to be an event to remember as food professionals gather to celebrate the islands' return to a sustainable eco-system of agriculture, environment and economy. Inviting culinary enthusiasts from around the world to "Taste our love for the Land," the festival offers signature dining experiences over three nights.

Representing one of the finest Waikiki beach restaurants, Executive Chef Masaharu Morimoto of Morimoto Waikiki and known by millions as the star of Iron Chef, will participate in the festival's first signature event, "Streets of Asia: Morimoto and Friends" on Thursday, September 29 at The Waikiki EDITION. This evening presentation around the hotel's Sunrise Pool will include interpretations of popular Hawaiian dishes by top chefs including Kaleo Adams, also of The Waikiki EDITION's Morimoto Waikiki restaurant, and other world renowned culinary professionals from Hawaii, Korea, Singapore, Canada and the United States.

The "Halekulani Master Chefs Gala Dinner Series" is a lavish formal dinner set for Friday evening, September 30 at the Halekulani Hotel and will feature dishes created by master chefs representing Hawaii, Japan, Australia and the United States. The concluding event "From Mauka to Makai" (Mountains to Sea) is a grand tasting event set for Saturday evening, October 1 on the Great Lawn of the Hilton Hawaiian Village that will promote farm-to-table cuisine utilizing sustainable sourcing and cooking practices.

A variety of Waikiki hotel packages and admission tickets are available for this East-West epicurean experience, all of which benefit the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation and the Kapiolani Community College Culinary Institute of the Pacific.
