Wal-Mart Canada associates across the country will join with more than one million fellow Wal-Mart associates worldwide in a pledge to keep silent about the ending of the much-anticipated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows after its July 21 release. The pledge is in direct response to a request by the book's author, JK Rowling, to help keep the ending a special discovery for readers around the globe. One of the most anticipated book arrivals in history, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh and final book in Rowling's popular Harry Potter series. Printed on 100 per cent post-consumer recycled paper, Wal-Mart expects Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be the fastest selling book of 2007.

In addition, Wal-Mart associates invite Canadian customers coast-to-coast to join with them in making a personal pledge online at www.walmart.ca. By taking the pledge, Wal-Mart Canada associates and customers will show their solidarity and support for Harry Potter enthusiasts nationwide, emphasizing the importance to not spoil the ending for others.

"At Wal-Mart stores from St. John's to Vancouver, we expect to see Harry Potter fans lining up in the early morning hours of July 21st to get their hands on this magical book," said Dave Kish, Wal-Mart Canada's book buyer. "By taking the pledge to keep silent, readers young and old, fast and slow, can enjoy the book at their own pace without fear of hearing how the tale ends."
