Waller Adds Five Healthcare Attorneys in Three Offices


NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Apr 10, 2014) - Waller, one of the nation's preeminent law firms serving the healthcare industry, announced today that five healthcare attorneys joined the firm recently in Nashville, Birmingham and Waller's newly opened Memphis office. Waller has been ranked among the nation's ten largest healthcare law firms since 2005. Joining Waller as partners in Nashville are Michelle B. Marsh and Angela C. Youngberg. Zachary D. Trotter joined the firm as an associate in Birmingham. Wes Scott and Jacob Weinstein joined Waller in Memphis as associates.

Michelle B. Marsh advises hospitals, health systems, and outpatient services providers on a wide range of regulatory issues, including Stark and anti-kickback compliance, licensing and accreditation, HIPAA and patient privacy issues, and reimbursement matters. She has earned the designations of Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC). Marsh's experience includes serving as Vice President/Associate General Counsel for LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., and most recently she was Chief Compliance Officer and Regulatory Counsel for SpecialtyCare. Marsh practiced at Waller earlier in her career, and she rejoins the firm as a partner in Nashville with unique insights into the regulatory challenges faced by providers from her in-house experience. She earned her J.D. in 1996 from William & Mary Law School and her B.A., cum laude, in 1990, from Vanderbilt University.

Angela C. Youngberg represents clients from virtually every segment of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, physicians, long-term care providers, surgery centers, and medical device companies. Her practice focuses on healthcare regulatory compliance and operations, and she has extensive experience in federal and state fraud and abuse matters involving Stark, anti-kickback laws, and the False Claims Act. She represents clients in Medicare, RAC, ZPIC, MAC, MIC, and other third party payor audits and appeals as well as patient privacy matters related to HIPAA and state regulations. Youngberg is recognized in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers for her healthcare law experience, and she is the Immediate Past Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association's Health Law Section. She earned her J.D. in 1995 from the University of Memphis - Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She earned her B.A. in 1992 from the University of Memphis. Youngberg joins Waller as a partner from Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell, PLC in Jackson, Tenn. She will be based in Nashville but will continue to serve long-standing clients in Memphis and West Tennessee.

Zachary D. Trotter assists hospitals, health systems, physicians, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient services on a broad range of regulatory compliance and operational matters. He advises clients on Stark law compliance, federal and state anti-kickback regulations, as well as HIPAA and state patient privacy laws. He also assists with the regulatory aspects of transactional matters. Trotter joins Waller as an associate in Birmingham. He practiced previously with Johnston, Barton, Proctor and Rose LLP. He earned his J.D. in 2011 from Vanderbilt University Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, in 2008 from Auburn University.

Wes Scott counsels public and private companies in the healthcare, life sciences, and hospitality industries primarily with respect to corporate finance, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He has extensive experience with federal securities laws and regulations, SEC reporting compliance, and stock exchange compliance. Scott joins Waller as an associate in Memphis. He practiced previously with Butler Snow. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis - Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. He earned his master's degree in Accountancy and his B.A., summa cum laude, in Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.

Jacob Weinstein assists healthcare and financial services clients in a wide range of corporate transactional matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations. Additionally, he provides guidance on capital formation activities, including private placements of securities and venture capital financings. Weinstein joins Waller as an associate in Memphis. He practiced previously with Butler Snow. He earned his J.D. in 2012 from Vanderbilt University Law School and his B.S., cum laude, in 2009 from Washington and Lee University.
