Waller Lansden Announces New Practice Group Leaders

Nashville's Oldest Law Firm Makes Leadership Changes to Corporate, Finance & Restructuring, Real Estate, Tax and Trial & Appellate Practices


NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - Apr 9, 2012) - Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP today announced new leaders for the following practice groups:

  • Corporate: James H. Nixon III, practice group leader; David C. Head, deputy practice group leader
  • Finance & Restructuring: Katie Grainer Stenberg, practice group leader
  • Real Estate: Rebekah Ellen Fisher, deputy practice group leader
  • Tax: Richard A. Johnson, co-practice group leader; Sean M. Sullivan, deputy practice group leader
  • Trial & Appellate: Heather J. Hubbard, deputy practice group leader

CORPORATE

James Nixon is a partner at Waller Lansden and has been named the new corporate practice group leader. He practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, general corporate, securities, healthcare and venture capital financing. He earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee and received his B.A. from Wake Forest University.

David Head is a partner at Waller Lansden and will be assisting Nixon as corporate deputy practice group leader. Head primarily focuses on securities, joint ventures, venture capital, partnerships/LLC law, mergers and acquisitions and general business law. He earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University and received his B.S. from the University of Alabama.

FINANCE & RESTRUCTURING

Katie Stenberg is a partner at Waller Lansden and will serve as the new finance and restructuring practice group leader. She focuses on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and commercial transactions. Previously, Stenberg was the deputy practice group leader for the Finance & Restructuring group. She earned her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati and received her B.A. from the University of Nevada.

REAL ESTATE

Rebekah Fisher, partner at Waller Lansden, is the deputy practice group leader of the firm's real estate group. She will assist current real estate practice group leader Bo Campbell. Fisher's practice focuses on retail leasing and development, as well as the acquisition and financing of commercial real estate. She earned her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati and received her B.S. from Tennessee Technological University.

TAX

Richard Johnson is a partner at Waller Lansden and will be serving as co-practice group leader of the tax group. Johnson's practice focuses on advising closely held companies, assisting high net worth individuals with tax, estate and gift planning, and providing counsel to tax-exempt organizations. Johnson earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee, his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida, and received his B.A. from the University of Mississippi.

Sean Sullivan, a partner at the firm, will serve as deputy practice group leader of the tax group. Sullivan represents clients in connection with the establishment and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans, profit sharing, 401 (k), cash balance and pension plans. He also works in the areas of welfare, fringe benefit plans and employee benefit arrangements. Sullivan earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi, his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, and received his B.A. from the University of Mississippi.

TRIAL & APPELLATE

Waller Lansden partner Heather Hubbard is deputy practice group leader of the firm's trial and appellate group. She will assist current trial and appellate co-practice group leaders, Travis W. Parham and Larry B. Childs. Her practice focuses on business and complex commercial litigation, emphasizing on intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution. Hubbard earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University and received her B.A. from the University of Louisville.
