Walmart Joins Forces With Crest® and Oral-B® to Promote National Oral Health Month in Canada

Cross country tour seeks to educate and raise funds for the improvement of dental and overall health

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 31, 2009) - To mark National Oral Health Month this April, Walmart Canada has joined forces with Crest® and Oral-B® in a program to help raise $20,000 for the advancement of oral education and health in Canada. Over the course of two weekends in April, the program, called "A Better Check-Up", will visit 100 Walmart locations across Canada. Approximately 45 registered dental hygienists and 35 dental hygiene students will be visiting Walmart locations in teams of two to educate consumers about preventative oral health.

"Taking proper care of your teeth and gums not only maintains a bright and healthy-looking smile, but it also contributes to good health," said Anthony Rosati, a registered dental hygienist. "Some conditions such as gum disease can lead to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, a scenario which can be helped, in part, by flossing before you brush once a day."

In addition to educating Canadians on oral health practices, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of participating Crest® and Oral-B® products purchased at Walmart throughout the month of April will be donated to the Dentistry Canada Fund. Participating brands include Crest Pro-Health Rinse, Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste, Crest Pro-Health Whitening Toothpaste, Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health Toothbrush and Oral-B Vitality Precision Clean.

Dental hygienists and dental hygiene students will be at specially-marked booth in Walmart's Health and Beauty department. These professionals will be discussing steps for improving dental health practices, providing literature and offering demonstrations on proper dental care.

Oral hygiene facts

- Gum disease can lead to a greater risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes - making the "floss, brush and rinse" rule an important one to follow
