Walsh University Wins Global Investment Research Challenge

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwire - Mar 7, 2012) - The CFA Society of Cleveland today announced that Walsh University won the local round of CFA Institute's Research Challenge.

Walsh was one of four universities that participated in the event. The other competing teams were from Ashland University, Cleveland State University and the University of Findlay.

This year's contest consisted of teams preparing a written research report on RPM International Inc., and then presenting their findings to a panel of distinguished judges. Walsh will participate at the regional competition in New York City on April 10.

How the Challenge works
Twenty-four local CFA societies host and launch an Investment Research Challenge in conjunction with the participating universities. The universities assemble teams of 3 to 5 business and finance students who work directly with a company in researching and preparing a company analysis with a final conclusion of Buy, Hold or Sell and a 12-month price target. The teams' final presentations are locally evaluated by high-profile panels of heads of research, portfolio managers, and/or chief investment officers from the world's top firms.

The local champions advance to regional competitions in the Americas, New York Regional, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and then winners from the regional competitions will go to the global finale, which this year is being held on April 11 in New York.
