Walsh Vision and National Datacast, Inc. Announce MediaLink Service

New Connectivity Solution for Digital Out-of-Home Networks

SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Walsh Vision, a prominent cellular wireless solutions integrator, and National Datacast, Inc., the national provider of point-to-multipoint digital media connectivity, announced today the completion of the MediaLink Service. The MediaLink Service is a new fully integrated connectivity service offered by the two companies, with National Datacast's low cost network communication device, MediaLink, to efficiently extend the reach of OOH networks by offering a cellular communication option for bi-directional communication needed to complement the broadcast data distribution of large multimedia files to digital signs and kiosks in a cost effective manner.

Through their partnership Walsh Vision and National Datacast, Inc. have conceived a hybrid connectivity model combining the power and efficiency of cost-effective multicast delivery with the ability to communicate in real time to effectively manage and receive important information from the screens through cellular connectivity. The MediaLink plug-and-play solution serves multiple screens and acts as a unified, on-premises distribution point for National Datacast's network-delivered multimedia data files as well as a maintenance channel via wireless broadband access. This innovative approach delivers flexibility and significant savings to its customers, while virtually eliminating IT frustrations for the network operator.

MediaLink supports IP multicast distribution, similar to satellite, and no special software is required to stream content over the industry-standard local area network interfaces. MediaLink also supports FTP drop box distribution. With this method files placed in an FTP drop box are transferred over the National Datacast network to the MediaLink where they are stored locally in a built-in Network Attached Storage (NAS) device and then shared via local LAN to on-site digital signage media players and/or kiosks.
