WANdisco Sponsors the Apache Software Foundation for a Second Year and Welcomes Core Subversion Developers to Its Team

SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2012) -  WANdisco (LSE: WAND), a leading provider of Apache Subversion-based software and services for the enterprise, and a corporate contributor to the Subversion project, today announced that its sponsorship of the Apache Software Foundation will continue for a second year in a row. In addition, two senior members of the Subversion developer community have recently joined the company.

The ASF Sponsorship Program is the official avenue for substantial, non-directed monetary contributions to the ASF, and funds raised through this program help the Foundation maintain leadership in the developer and open source communities. As an ASF sponsor WANdisco joins companies such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, HP and IBM.

WANdisco also announced that core Subversion committers Branko Čibej and Stefan Fuhrmann have joined the WANdisco team. Branko Čibej will take up the role of Director of Subversion at WANdisco, where he will lead the existing team of talented Apache Subversion committers. WANdisco already has several active Subversion committers on staff, including Philip Martin who was part of the original Subversion development team and Julian Foad who has been a core Subversion contributor since 2003.

Branko Čibej joined the Subversion project in May 2000 and has been an active member of the community since then. His early contributions were the binary delta storage and delta combination algorithm. Branko also created the initial port of Subversion to the Windows platform. Recently he has been heavily involved with the redesign of Subversion's merge functionality.

Also joining WANdisco as a full-time Subversion developer is Stefan Fuhrmann. With over 20 years of experience with professional software, he has worked as a software architect, system architect and process expert in the automotive industry. Not only has Stefan been a TortoiseSVN contributor since 2003, but he has been a committer to the Subversion project since 2010. His involvement with Subversion focuses on server performance and client usability.
