Wandrian, Inc.: Trenitalia Launches New High-Speed Lines

Upgraded Rail System Makes Italian Railways One of Most Modern in World; Connects Rome and Milan in 3.5 Hours

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - Wandrian, Inc. today announced that Trenitalia, Italy's National Railway, is launching new high-speed lines that significantly improve travel times and experience for traveling Italy by train. Wandrian, Inc., Trenitalia's US distribution partner, has announced special pricing will be offered on these new high-speed lines to US consumers through ItaliaRail.com until January 15th, 2009.

Mauro Moretti, CEO at Italian Railways, introduced the new high-speed services during a press conference in Rome. He stated, "Rail travel in Italy is changing; Rome and Milan are closer and so are all major cities in the country. We have dramatically upgraded rail technology to give the country a high-speed system among the most modern in the world. In 2009, there will be 1,000 kilometers covered by High-Speed trains in Italy. We believe that there will be an increase in rail travel demand, and we will prepare special offers to meet that need. High-Speed lines give birth to a new type of traveler: the commuter among major cities. We believe that in just a few months we will gain 60% of airline customers."

The new trains are the 'Red Arrow' (ETR500), which will run between Naples - Rome and Milan; the 'Silver Arrow' (ETR 485 - ETR 600), which is able to travel at higher speeds even on conventional lines, and will reach Puglia and Calabria; and the 'White Arrow' (EurostarCity). On the new 'Red Arrow,' passengers can travel non-stop between Rome and Milan in three and a half hours, and in less than four hours when stopping in Bologna and Florence. In addition, passengers can travel between Milan and Bologna in only sixty-five minutes, Milan - Florence in two hours and ten minutes, and Naples - Milan in four hours and fifty minutes.

Additional benefits of the new high-speed lines include quality on- and off-board services, such as dedicated waiting lounges, free newspapers, drinks and snacks on board, mobile and online ticketing services; and for first-class customers, car and driver rental for four hours for just 35 Euros.

For a minimum of one month after the launch of High-Speed transit, a 10% discount will be applied to maximum one-way rates. Sample discounted pricing for one-way tickets is: Milan - Bologna, $65 1st class and $45.50 2nd class, Milan - Florence $78 1st class and $54.60 2nd class and Milan - Rome $127.40 first class and $92.30 2nd class.
