Wandrian Wins Innovation Award at 2008 PhoCusWright Conference

Pioneering Train Travel Distribution Technology Resonates With the "Wisdom of the Crowd"

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - Wandrian, Inc., the technology solutions developer for next-generation systems in train travel distribution, won an innovation award at the recent PhoCusWright Conference in Hollywood, California. This year's event included the inaugural Travel Innovation Summit, which showcased the travel industry's hottest, most innovative Web and mobile-based applications.

Dozens of companies from around the world applied for the opportunity. Their applications were thoroughly vetted by PhoCusWright research analysts, using detailed questionnaires, 30-minute interviews and scrutiny of the various technologies. Only the most innovative and exciting made the cut. Thirty-two companies took the stage Monday, November 17, at The Travel Innovation Summit to run the gauntlet of public opinion, demonstrate their products to a live audience and test them against the "wisdom of the crowds."

Wandrian was the only company demonstrating solutions dedicated to train travel, a US$200 billion global industry.

"Travel distribution companies have been missing a huge opportunity for online train sales," commented Bret Gordon, president and CEO of Wandrian. "Our company's pioneering new technology removes significant technical and business barriers, enabling corporate and leisure travelers to search, shop and buy train tickets and passes as easily as buying plane tickets."

Using hand-held, interactive voting devices, the savvy audience critically assessed each demonstrator on the technical and business value of the innovation, as well as its potential effect on the marketplace. The winners passed the ultimate test by garnering their peers' approval.

"You have to be willing to be misunderstood when you innovate," said PhoCusWright CEO Philip Wolf in his Travel Innovation Summit opening remarks. "By definition, innovators have compelled themselves to ignore problems and failures in the quest to accomplish something important... "
