War Eagle Mining Company Inc.: Surface Core Drilling Program Encounters High Grade Mineralization at the Tres Marias

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 17, 2005) - War Eagle Mining Company Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WAR) -

War Eagle Mining Company Inc. completed a surface exploration-drilling program on the Tres Marias concessions in Chihuahua, Mexico, during August and September 2005. Drilling was carried out in three areas: La Blanca Nos. 1, 2 & 3 were drilled; Mine area Nos. 4, 5, 6 & 7 were drilled; and Comanche Nos. 8 & 9 were drilled.

Mine Area

The best results were achieved with Nos. 5 & 6 in the western part of the mine area. No. 6 was drilled 40m or 120ft west of No. 5. It cut an unknown, unmined block measuring 20 by 30m (60ft x 90ft) in plan. An upper zone from 22.6 to 26.6m (4m or 12ft) averaged 16.5% Zinc and 54 g/mt Germanium. A lower zone from 72m to 85.9m (13.9m or 42ft) averaged 19.75% Zinc and 336 g/mt Germanium. The total mineralized zone from 18m to 98m (80m or 240ft) averaged 5% Zinc and 120 g/mt Germanium.

No. 5 was drilled vertically into a previously unknown, unmined block between the northern NE-SW trending mineralized zone and the southern E-W trending mineralized zone and was located approximately 100m or 300ft west of the mine shaft. This block measures 20m by 50m (60ft x 150ft) in plan. From 77.4m to 86.6m (9.2m or 27ft) the average grade is 6.2% Zinc and 105 g/mt Germanium.

A geophysical program consisting of a down-hole resistivity survey, surface VLF-EM and gravity survey will be carried out before the end of the year. This will be followed by an extensive underground drilling program of approximately 40 holes in order to delineate a minimum of 500,000 tonnes at the mine site.

A Lazer Imaging Survey will be carried out before year-end, which will help to outline the three-dimensional view of the workings and mineralization.

The mineralization in the mine area is within a 600m or 1800ft long east/west trending VLF-EM geophysical conductor that was located by Services Industriales Penoles in a 1978 survey. The present mine workings occupy approximately 100m or 300ft within the western end of this zone. Drill hole Nos. 5 and 6 were within this VLF-EM anomaly.

La Blanca - Located 500m/1500ft S.E. of the mine area

La Blanca mineralization is found along a vertical NE trending fault that is cut by a northwest trending wash that is localized along a northwest trending, east dipping normal fault. On the east side of the wash along the La Blanca fault there is a narrow outcrop of 25% to 29% Zinc mineralization. Nos. 1 & 2 were drilled to intersect this mineralized zone below the outcrop; although the fault was intersected no significant mineralization was found in either hole. A more significant collapse feature was mapped along the La Blanca fault to the west of the wash. No. 3 was drilled to cut La Blanca below the surface expression of the collapse zone. At a depth of 115m or 345ft, 0.11 meters or 0.33ft of 1.4% Zinc and 98 g/mt Germanium was intersected. Several meters of core above and below this intercept are brecciated and contain from 100ppm to more than 800-ppm zinc. The collapse zone was interested from 91.5m to 122m (30.5m or 91ft.) A geophysical program will be carried out before the end of the year at La Blanca. Upon favorable results additional drilling will be carried out from the top of the ridge to the west of the wash.

Comanche - Located 500m/1500ft S.W. of the mine area

Nos. 8 & 9 were drilled to the northeast and north respectively from a drill site along the road to test a large zone of brecciation at the intersection of the faults that control the Comanche and Tres Marias washes. Although there were long intercepts of hematite stained brecciated limestone no significant mineralization was encountered. A geophysical program will be carried out by year-end in this area.
