MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 15, 2014) - Welcome Hall Mission launches "Operation New Socks for the Homeless", an initiative to collect men's and women's socks that will be distributed to thousands of Montreal's homeless.
Wearing clean, dry socks during the frigid winter season comes as second nature for many people, but can you imagine walking miles every day without them? Soaked feet, constant standing, skin infections, frostbite and diseases like diabetes take their toll on the feet of homeless people. "Keeping feet warm and dry with clean socks is the best way to promote healthy feet" said Welcome Hall mission President Cyril Morgan. "This Sock Drive is a caring, effective way people can reach out to their neighbours in need."
Socks can be dropped off at 4755E Acorn Street, Montreal, QC H4C 3L6 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm. Donation boxes can be requested.
No time to get socks? Financial donations can be made towards the purchase of socks by donating online at: https://www.imakeanonlinedonation.org/missionba/frm_detail.php?FrmUID=4
