RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwired - April 03, 2014) - WasteZero, the leading provider of municipal solid waste reduction programs and supplies in the U.S., announced today that it will participate in the NCAA Final Four's sustainability efforts as the sole supplier of recycling and garbage bags at the tailgate events for the Final Four in Dallas, Texas, on April 5 and 7.
This is the first time that the NCAA has distributed recycling bags at tailgate events for the Final Four. Under the arrangement, WasteZero is supplying 10,000 clear recycling bags and an additional 10,000 bright green garbage bags, both imprinted with the Final Four logo. Volunteers and staff will hand out the bags for free to tailgaters upon entry to the stadium parking lots. WasteZero will produce all the bags for the events at its advanced manufacturing and recycling facility in Hemingway, S.C., using recycled content.
WasteZero's participation in the Final Four's sustainability program reinforces the company's commitment to reducing solid waste and increasing recycling. By having both recycling and garbage bags at the tailgate events, a greater amount of valuable recyclable goods will be collected, and less trash will be created.
"WasteZero is delighted to participate in the NCAA's efforts to increase sustainability at the Final Four," WasteZero Board of Directors Chair John Campbell said, adding, "Boosting recycling and cutting trash at an event of this size will make a big difference for the environment."
WasteZero is the leading provider of municipal solid waste reduction programs and supplies in the U.S. The company is on a mission to cut residential trash in half across the nation. WasteZero partners with more than 800 municipalities throughout the country to reduce the amount of waste that is landfilled or burned, increase recycling, and generate savings. It pursues its mission by helping municipalities design, launch, and manage next-generation pay-as-you-throw systems, known as WasteZero Trash Metering™ programs. These programs eliminate or reduce fixed residential fees for trash collection, and enable residents to dispose of trash only in official, pre-paid trash bags. These programs reduce solid waste by more than 46% annually, on average. They also help to dramatically increase recycling rates, sometimes by 100% or more.
WasteZero manufactures customized specialty plastic trash bags for its programs -- and for other customers -- in the U.S. from recycled content. It is committed to creating jobs in the U.S. and to solving the nation's solid waste crisis. A certified B Corporation, WasteZero is a national organization with key management offices in Raleigh, N.C., and the Boston area, and a manufacturing facility in Hemingway, S.C.
