Wataniya Algérie (Nedjma) Deploys Comptel Dynamic OSS to Provision and Activate Mobile Services

Qtel Subsidiary Chose Comptel Solution to Handle Growth of Subscribers and Services Offered

HELSINKI, FINLAND--(Marketwire - March 2, 2010) - Comptel Corporation (HEX: CTL1V), the leading vendor of dynamic Operations Support System (OSS) software, today announced that Algerian mobile operator Wataniya Algérie (Nedjma), whose majority is owned by Qatar Telecom (Qtel) through Wataniya Telecom in Kuwait, has selected Comptel Provisioning and Activation to improve its service fulfillment processes for mobile offerings, including planned 3G services.

Key Facts:

  • After winning the third mobile license in Algeria in December 2003, Wataniya launched commercially in August 2004 under the name of Nedjma.
  • Since then, Nedjma has experienced rapid growth -- both in terms of subscribers and services offered. Like many successful operators in dynamic markets, Nedjma found that some of the systems it had in place were unable to cope with this growth.
  • Comptel Provisioning and Activation automates the provisioning and activation processes. With a single interface, it covers the entire workflow -- from service order to the start of billing.
  • Nedjma selected Comptel's solution in the first quarter of 2009 and is now going live with the deployment.

Supporting Quotes:

  • "We needed to find a provisioning and activation solution that would enable us to achieve our ambitions," said Mr. Imed Soussou, chief technology officer, Nedjma. "We made a thorough evaluation of the solutions in the market and came to the conclusion that Comptel's offering was the most compelling. Comptel has proven across the world that it delivers reliable provisioning and activation solutions that support the business and commercial requirements of growing mobile operators, such as Nedjma."
  • "Even though Comptel has strong and long-standing relationships with Wataniya and Qtel, Nedjma selected Comptel on the basis of a competitive tender," concluded Mr. Youssef Kermoury, senior vice president, Middle East and Africa, Comptel. "For Comptel, winning the tender is very pleasing and a clear demonstration of our leadership in the field. But, we also see this as a further strengthening of our relationship with Nedjma's parent companies."
