Water Ski Legends Mike Suyderhoud and Mike Royal Set to Perform at Three-Day Water Ski Event in Thousand Oaks

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - August 4, 2009) - Thousand Oaks, Kurk Homes and Darryl Moore's Marine have pulled out all the stops for an upcoming three-day Water Skiing Exhibition and clinic in Thousand Oaks. The clinic will commence on August 8, 2009 and continue through August 9, 2009. In addition, World Water Ski Champion Mike Suyderhoud and World record holder Mike Royal will highlight this water-ski extravaganza with an exhibition on Monday, August 10 at 5:00 pm.

The Thousand Oaks Subdivision on the south side of FM 1488 (12 miles west of I-45 and two miles east of FM 149) sets the perfect backdrop for this world-class water ski event with its large ski lakes and beautiful scenery. Mike Suyderhoud and Mike Royal will be skiing individually as well as for the first time together during the exhibition. Water skiing would not be the sport we know today without the incredible feats of Mike Suyderhoud. Regarded by many as one of the best water skiers of all time, Suyderhoud has been crowned US Ski Champion an amazing 16 times, and is a five-time World Champion.

Record holder Mike Royal has never let his disability slow him down. Born with the progressive eye disease retinitis pigmentosa, Royal became blind by his mid-thirties. His positive philosophy of focusing on things he can do, using tools to come up with creative solutions and refusing to let others determine his limits has helped him overcome blind related challenges. Royal has silenced all detractors. In May of this year, Royal broke the 2007 record for the V1 "totally blind" category, making him a World Record Holder. On July 4 and July 25, he unofficially broke two more records, which are pending ratification by the International Water Ski Federation.
