Waterloo Student Named to CPA Profession's National Honour Roll

417 Ontarians Pass Canada-Wide CPA Exam

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - July 29, 2016) - The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario) congratulates Darren Rennie of Waterloo who was named to the National Honor Roll as one of the top seven writers of the Common Final Examination (CFE) in the province. The CFE is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate.

A student in the CPA education program, Darren has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Conestoga College. He works at MNP LLP in Waterloo.

On why he chose a career in the accounting profession, Matthew said: "I was always interested in business growing up, and I view accounting as a lifeblood of any company. We can analyze the financial information to make critical decisions for clients and companies."

A total of seven Ontario CPA students placed on the prestigious 20-member National Honour Roll and Ontario had 417 of the country's 1,011 successful CFE writers. This marks a milestone for these CPAs, acknowledging years of hard work, dedicated study, steadfast work-life balance and a true commitment to the accounting profession and their careers.

The CFE is an important component of the new CPA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire CPA program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Professional Accountant, a profession known for financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership.
