WaterTrax Selected for Water's Next Water Resources Technology Award

WaterTrax Chosen as Winner of Technology Category for the Water Canada Awards Presented Last Night at the Water Summit for Strong Electronic Reporting Tools

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - June 26, 2015) - WaterTrax is pleased to announce that they have been selected as the winner of the prestigious 2015 Water's Next award for excellence in water resource technology. The Water's Next national awards program honours the achievements and ideas of individuals and companies that successfully work to change water in our country. Water's Next is an award program run by Water Canada magazine, which spotlights stories about our country's energized leaders, innovative technologies, quality research, and unique solutions for water challenges.

The award selection committee is made up of 16 Canadian water experts from varied disciplines. They received over 80 nominations and had to choose the most innovative and groundbreaking people and technologies in Conveyance, Drinking Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources for eight award categories.

WaterTrax was nominated specifically for their recently added electronic reporting functionality, created for municipalities responsible for reporting to the Environmental Management System (EMS) for the British Columbia Ministry of Environment. Working with the City of Kelowna and the Ministry of Environment (MOE), WaterTrax was able to develop this electronic reporting tool, leveraging the internet to reduce the amount of time that utilities spend generating their EMS reports. Previously, these reports would have been produced manually by pulling data from spreadsheets or lab report and submitting them by email or hard copy to an MOE regional office. The data from these reports would then be entered into the EMS database by MOE staff. This process was not only time consuming to collect, review and verify the data, but also entering the information into the EMS database one item at a time could potentially lead to errors.

WaterTrax works with provinces and states to make this option available to other jurisdictions and has already created a NetDMR reporting tool for states who report directly to the EPA and the CIWQS reporting tool for those in California reporting to the California Water Resources Control Board, in addition to the British Columbia Ministry of Environment EMS reporting tool. These new reporting tools build on WaterTrax's industry leading data management software that helps ensure a safe drinking water supply for the public, and clean wastewater for the environment. WaterTrax recently strengthened its capabilities in wastewater with the acquisition of Linko Technologies Inc., the leading provider of Industrial Pretreatment (Source Control), FOG and Liquid Hauled Waste software.

"Electronic reporting tools, such as the CIWQS, NetDMR and EMS reporting tools, are becoming mandatory as the industry moves more towards smarter data management and electronic report submission," explains General Manager of WaterTrax, James Griffiths. "These tools have been met with great reviews from users, stating that the robust electronic report formats that WaterTrax generates save them a great deal of time in data compilation and validation. WaterTrax takes an approach of providing a smart data management solution from source to tap to help improve efficiency for utilities by eliminating redundant and manual data entry and reporting processes."

The WaterTrax solution saves users time in report generation while improving data accuracy, as all of the required data is securely housed in the WaterTrax database. All laboratory, field and SCADA data can be electronically transferred into WaterTrax which then performs automatic data verification and alerting if acceptable limits are exceeded. With a one-time set up of the EMS template, users can quickly generate their EMS report as required. This output has been designed to be fully compliant with the EMS specifications, and can quickly be uploaded through the EMS electronic data transfer mechanism.
