Wave Broadband Selects Casa Systems to Power Gigabit Speeds

Market-Leading C100G CCAP Will Deliver Ultra Broadband Experience to Residential and Business Subscribers Across Pacific Northwest

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2015) - Casa Systems, a worldwide leader in next-generation cable edge technology, today announced that Wave Broadband, a gigabit fiber and broadband services company serving the Pacific Northwest, is deploying the C100G CCAP from Casa Systems to provide subscribers with gigabit broadband speeds. While improving customer quality of experience (QoE) with ultra broadband, Wave will also be able to reduce its energy consumption, lower rack space needs and simplify operations.

As a leading provider to businesses and residents across Northern California, Oregon and Washington, Wave supports more than 450,000 subscriptions to their Internet, TV, and phone. To accommodate streaming content players and meet growing network capacity demands, Wave's goal is two-fold -- provide customers with unparalleled QoE while monetizing their assets. To establish gigabit services across its extensive footprint, Wave needed to replace its existing Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) with a solution that could immediately provide the broadband capacity necessary for today's bandwidth-intensive applications, such as IP video delivery, and serve as a building block for future expansion.

"Driven by the incredible growth of streaming video, social media and other rich content, the gigabit era can't wait. To reinforce our investment in expanding gigabit services across our region, it was imperative we have the right infrastructure in place," said Harold Zeitz, president and COO at Wave. "The C100G CCAP from Casa Systems is the solution that paves a seamless path to scale and supports next-gen technologies such as DOCSIS 3.1, wireless, PON architecture and virtualization that are poised to become competitive differentiators."

The solution's higher density, compact design will provide Wave with superior efficiency and cost-saving advantages compared to its previous CMTS platform. The economical power design that minimizes impact in hub and headend sites will serve as a revenue enhancer for Wave, while subsequently taking advantage of reduced energy costs from smaller rack space needs.

"With the rise of smart devices and bandwidth-rich data including HD video, the ultra broadband era is here, and operators need the ability to deliver on subscribers' demands now," said Jerry Guo, CEO, Casa Systems. "With our CCAP, providers like Wave can leverage higher speeds today and are well-positioned to scale and provide additional services down the road with DOCSIS 3.1 -- without the need to rip and replace switch cards, line cards or PHY modules, saving significant costs and resources."
