Wave offers central management for self-encrypting drives (SEDs), where encryption is built into the hard drive itself for more robust security and minimal impact on performance as compared with software FDE. Wave was the first to support Seagate's DriveTrust encrypted hard drives, and today supports SEDs built on the TCG Opal specification from Toshiba, Hitachi, Seagate, Samsung and Micron.
