Wavefront Announces Global Market Entry Program for 2014-15

Facilitated by the Global Opportunities for Associations (GOA) program, Wavefront supports Canadian export activity in the wireless and mobility sector

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 24, 2014) - Wavefront today announced that it has been awarded funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFATD) under the Global Opportunities for Associations (GOA) program. With financial and operational assistance from DFATD, Wavefront supports wireless technology companies from across Canada in their global export efforts through a series of targeted market entry trips to meet with key international industry players.

Small businesses often lack the internal resources and international networks to effectively export their technology solutions to foreign markets. Their most commonly cited challenges to expanding internationally include both a lack of knowledge of new markets and difficulty in finding partners and distributors.

Wavefront's Global Market Entry Programs are specifically designed to help SMEs overcome these challenges.

"The Wavefront Global Market Entry program has allowed us to go into markets we could never have addressed quickly on our own," remarks Wayne Chester, CEO of Sendum. "Over the last few years, the program has taken us into opportunities on four continents, connected us with customers and resellers, and dramatically sped up our time to market."

By partnering with the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) and the expertise gained by organizing 17 International Market Entry Programs for more than 70 Canadian companies over the past 4 years, Wavefront has developed a program model designed to maximize commercial opportunities for the participating companies. Each trip involves taking a small group of wireless technology companies from the same industry sub-sector to a foreign market for an intensive program of B2B meetings, networking and industry events.

For 2014, Wavefront will manage 6 market entry programs to key markets across the globe:

  1. Latin America (Machine-to-Machine Technology for the Mining Sector)
  2. Korea and Japan (Mobile Marketing/Mobile Media)
  3. Europe (Machine-to-Machine Technology)
  4. Southeast Asia (Machine-to-Machine Technology)
  5. Middle East (Mobile Operator Solutions)
  6. United States (Mobile Operator Solutions)

"Through this program we have been able to take Canadian-built innovation into global markets to forge relationships with an impressive list of international enterprises," says Brian Roberts, VP International Business Development at Wavefront. "The 2014 program builds on work done in previous years and promises tremendous opportunities for Canadian companies."
