Wavefront and Communitech Join Forces to Accelerate the Growth of Wireless Companies in Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 14, 2013) - Wavefront, Canada's Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, and Communitech, two hubs on the CDMN national network, today announced a new collaboration agreement. The collaboration is anchored by complementary mandates to accelerate the growth of wireless and technology companies in Ontario and across Canada.

With financial support available from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), Wavefront will immediately offer valuable programs to Communitech network companies, including advisory and mentorship, and state-of-the-art mobile application development and testing services.

These services include onsite access to the Wavefront mobile device library, which houses the most in-demand smartphones and tablets for testing, as well as a broad selection of feature phones. As well, Communitech clients will be able to perform remote testing on global carrier networks with Perfecto Public Cloud automated testing services, and sophisticated usability studies.

Communitech clients will also be able to participate in a variety of advisory and mentorship programs delivered by Wavefront, including the Machine to Machine (M2M) Accelerator program, with training, tools and resources provided by Deutsche Telekom, Rogers and Sierra Wireless. Wavefront also facilitates targeted business partnering introductions to key players in the global M2M market, including carriers and infrastructure providers.

As part of this collaboration, Wavefront and Communitech will offer joint events and training programs covering the latest wireless technologies and business opportunities.

"We have a great deal of respect for the important work and tangible impacts that Communitech delivers to technology companies in Ontario," states James Maynard, President and CEO of Wavefront. "Our collaboration with Communitech is a natural fit, as we share a similar mandate and can now further extend our wireless commercialization programs to companies in this important region."

Communitech's CEO and President, Iain Klugman, explains, "We welcome the further collaboration with Wavefront and we're confident that improved access to a comprehensive suite of wireless testing and commercialization services will directly contribute to the growth and economic impact of the technology sector in Ontario and across the country."

Serving more than 1,000 companies, Communitech has an impressive track record of supporting some of Canada's most promising technology companies. Wavefront's positive impact on the wireless sector can be seen across the country, helping to grow the wireless ecosystem, create new jobs and build the national economy.
