Wavelink Avalanche Provides Bluetooth Printer Security, Management, and Reporting

With Wavelink Avalanche, Administrators Can Extend Wireless Ecosystem Management to Include Printers Attached to Mobile Terminals via Bluetooth

MIDVALE, UT--(Marketwire - December 9, 2010) - Wavelink Corporation (www.wavelink.com) today announced it has extended its Avalanche management solution to manage printers attached to mobile terminals via Bluetooth*. Administrators can monitor and control Bluetooth printers through Wavelink® Printer Management, a plug-in to Wavelink Avalanche®.

Wavelink Printer Management allows administrators to uniquely identify each mobile printer, find its location via its connected mobile terminal and see printer information such as firmware, battery level and installed RAM. Usage reports show which printers are used most frequently, allowing administrators to schedule maintenance to extend printer head life while reducing printer downtime.

Wavelink Printer Management enhances the mobile printer management functionality already in Avalanche by giving administrators more visibility and control over their printer assets. Wavelink has worked closely with Zebra Technologies in its development, and Printer Management initially supports QL, MZ and RW series printers from Zebra with support for additional printers and manufacturers to be available in future releases.

The Printer Management user interface integrates with the Wavelink Avalanche Web Console. Printer Management runs on selected mobile terminals to which Bluetooth printers are connected. From the mobile terminal it communicates and gathers information from the printers, which is relayed back to the Avalanche system.

Jay Cichosz, Wavelink vice president of marketing, said, "With Wavelink Printer Management, we are continuing the ability for administrators to manage all assets in their wireless ecosystem through a single, central console. For today's enterprise that includes a wide range of wireless devices from multiple manufacturers that are deployed across multiple locations, Wavelink provides the industry-leading solution for administrators to manage all their assets from any standard web browser."

Wavelink Printer Management is now available for use with Wavelink Avalanche version 5.0.2 and later. For more information about Wavelink Printer Management, please visit http://www.wavelink.com/p/mobile-printer-management.
