Wavesat's Evolutive'TM' WiMAX Series Receives Prestigious Infovision Award: Wavesat Honored Alongside Leading Telecom Players

MONTREAL, CANADA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - Wavesat, leading developer of WiMAX silicon, has received a prestigious infoVision Award for its Evolutive™ WiMAX Series for Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies. The award was presented on October 4, in Madrid, Spain at the Broadband World Forum Europe and WiMAX Global ComForum, sponsored by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC).

The award winners were selected by the InfoVision Award Committee, which is composed of chairpersons, committee members, executives from manufacturers and service providers, editors of the industry's leading professional journals, and faculty from prestigious engineering universities. The InfoVision Award recognizes applications, products, and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry based on technological advancement, industry impact, and end-user marketability and adoption. The complete list of winners is available at www.iec.org/events/2005/bbwf/conference/infovision.html.

"With hundreds of submissions and only two winners in each of the eight categories, the highly-coveted awards give tribute to those catalyzing positive change in technology, business, and academia, completely in line with the IEC's mission," says IEC's Managing Director, Roger Plummer. Wavesat's Evolutive™ WiMAX Series is a perfect example of pioneering vision leading to market success."

"We are delighted to be acknowledged with this prestigious award for achieving our goal of developing and delivering industry-leading technology solutions," said Michel Guay, CEO of Wavesat. "To be recognized alongside Alcatel, Alvarion, Cisco and Infineon, to name a few, is a strong recognition for our team's efforts and further validation of our strategy. Wavesat's Evolutive™ WiMAX approach to 802.16 d/e is effecting major changes to the market and ensuring faster deployment of commercial and enduring applications." Our WiMAX DM256 is Wavesat's 6th generation chip, making Wavesat's Evolutive™ WiMAX portfolio a disruptive yet risk-free technology."

More than 40 organizations are currently developing products based on Wavesat's Evolutive™ WiMAX solution. Wavesat also has a growing number of partners to help develop and test the development platform and tools. Partners also include a number of ODMs coming up with low-cost subscriber units. Some of Wavesat's clients and partners include Agilent, WaveIP, Atmel, JStream, VCom, Nex-G, C-DOT, Z-Com, Murandi, Infineon, Infinet, AirTegrity, Trango, Xilinx and Zarlink.

Wavesat's Evolutive™ WiMAX Series is a full-range of standard-based integrated circuits, software and reference system designs for Broadband Wireless Access 802.16 compliant applications. Wavesat products fit design requirements for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) as well as Base Station infrastructures (Carrier's facilities), providing cost-effective wireless connectivity for a wide range of network sizes and coverage from urban to rural applications, for both licensed and license-exempt radio frequencies.

Wavesat was also awarded the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership Award earlier this year for its contribution to improving and advancing WiMAX OFDM chip technology and, in turn, for driving high-speed proprietary broadband wireless access for the Point-to-Multipoint market (802.16).
