WCG Hires Industry Leaders to Increase Depth and Expand Client Base

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 21, 2011) - WCG, a global independent company offering integrated creative, interactive and marketing communications services, today announced it has hired four senior professionals to broaden its expertise within its core market, healthcare, and direct the company's burgeoning client base in consumer products and entertainment. New hires providing leading edge counsel to clients in healthcare include Managing Director Lauren Letellier, Group Director Denise Powell and Group Medical Director Himani Kulkarni, MD. Group Director Craig Alperowitz will take a lead role in executing integrated communications strategies with clients in consumer products and entertainment.

Letellier is an award-winning communications executive who, for more than two decades, has led clients and teams at top-ranking global public relations agencies. Most recently, Letellier served as Senior Partner, Managing Director at TogoRun, where she re-branded and re-launched the Omnicom (OMC) healthcare boutique. She took the new agency from one office with 9 employees to three offices (NYC, DC, London) with 45 employees and grew revenues from $2.8MM to $11.3 MM. Previously, she held senior vice president positions at CPR Worldwide and Fleishman-Hillard. Her creative approach, grounded in analytical thinking, will help empower WCG clients to formulate communications strategies, launch and position products and services, extend brands, grow sales, forge collaborative alliances and protect corporate reputation. Letellier's experience spans many categories and issues within the healthcare sector.

As a 15 year veteran of investor relations, Powell has provided strategic counsel to biotech companies throughout the business life cycle from pre-IPO to large multi-billion dollar market cap companies. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Threshold Pharmaceuticals, directing all aspects of IR/PR functions. Previously, she served as Associate Director of Investor Relations at Amgen, leading strategy for all investor and analyst communication. Powell's deep understanding of the unique challenges within the corporate environment, including the context and culture in which clients live, strategically and operationally, will help WCG teams deliver ever more relevant and practical communication solutions.

With an MD, and degrees in English and Biology, Kulkarni brings a combination of medicine, communications, and business acumen to her role as medical director. She has worked at several leading healthcare agencies for both WPP and Euro where she served as lead Medical Director on multiple US and EX US assignments across a range of therapeutic categories. Kulkarni has produced a breadth of on-line and off-line market development content, created medical education web sites, and has published numerous scientific papers and abstracts in the fields of psychiatry and emergency medicine. She will be strengthening the agency's medical and scientific rigor and will work with the firm's leadership team to build out its advisory council across all key therapeutic areas.

Alperowitz brings over 18 years of strategic communications, corporate visibility and issues management experience to further enable WCG's success in consumer products and entertainment. Most recently, Alperowitz served as Executive Vice President at Lippe Taylor, responsible for the consumer and consumer health divisions, representing brands including Nestle Beverage, David's Bridal, IKEA, Qiagen and others. Previously, as Managing Director at DeVries Public Relations, he led a variety of blue-chip brands including Procter & Gamble's health & lifestyle division, Samuel Adams brewery, E&J Gallo winery, Tropicana, NutriSystem and Bank of America. Alperowitz is also a veteran of the entertainment industry including publicity work with celebrities including Reese Witherspoon, Courteney Cox, Elijah Wood, Liam Neeson, Christian Slater and others. He later worked at Sony Pictures and New Line Cinema on blockbuster films such as Rush Hour, Magnolia, Pleasantville, Austin Powers 2 and Lord of the Rings before joining Niehaus Ryan Wong where he represented Pixar Animation Studios, working alongside industry visionaries Steve Jobs, John Lasseter and Brad Bird.
