We Want Your Funk: Submit Your "Funky" Photos and Videos for a Chance to Win Free Hardsurface Flooring

The Tile Doctor(R) Launches Shield, the First Non-Toxic Antimicrobial Product Approved for Hard Surfaces, and the Funk Challenge

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) -   The Tile Doctor®, the most recognized and respected brand in the tile and stone industry, commemorates the national launch of its new non-toxic antimicrobial 3-part cleaning system, Tile Doctor Shield™, by challenging home dwellers to "de-funk" their homes. Starting today and running through June 30, 2011, The Funk Challenge involves eliminating homes of toxic cleaners and removing microscopic mold, mildew, bacteria and fungi. To participate, consumers must submit photos and videos of them "de-funking" their homes -- whether it's removing toxic chemicals or harmful mold, mild, bacteria or fungi from their home. Submissions can even be of consumers showing off their funky cleaning moves.

"New studies are released daily revealing the hazardous environments that we are creating inside our homes. In an effort to remove the harmful microorganisms we're actually harming our families even more through the toxic chemicals that live under our sinks," said Curt Rapp founder and CEO of The Tile Doctor. "Shield is a game changer in the home cleaning space and in conjunction with its national launch we not only wanted to introduce consumers to the product, but also wanted to challenge them to make their own homes a safer and healthier place by participating in the Funk Challenge."

Why Participate
According to the National Safety Council, the air inside our homes can be up to 10 times worse for consumers than the air outside. Specifically, chemicals in our indoor air may have concentrations of up to 100 times higher than outdoor air -- much of which is caused by toxic cleaning products.

While homes can be breeding grounds for microbes (mold, mildew, bacteria, fungi, etc.), Shield provides a safe way to control these microorganisms, effectively. Other known anti-bacterial products poison these organisms, leaving some to become resistant and come back stronger.

Shield is the first non-toxic antimicrobial product approved for hard surfaces, it does not leach or poison. Once applied, it creates an environment where microbes cannot live, allowing treated surfaces to be regularly cleaned with as little as soap and water. It aids in the elimination of such microorganisms and reduces the need for common harmful household cleaners such as bleach-based products.

How to Enter
Consumers can enter the contest by visiting the Funk Challenge website, www.powerofshield.com/funk, to submit their videos or photos. The funkiest submission will win free hard surface flooring from Floor and Decor Outlets of America, up to $1,000 value. Entries will be judged by a panel of guest judges including Jason "Germ Guy" Tetro and the Floor and Decor Outlets' DIY Divas, Joy Crane, Malika Harricharan and Yvonne O'Shaughnessy. Winners will be announced on July 15, 2011.
