WebTech Wireless Announces $1.65M NextBus® Contract with Triad Transit Systems

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2010) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services and telematics technology, today announced that NextBus Inc., its California based subsidiary, was awarded a $1.65 million Real Time Passenger Information System (RTPIS) contract by Triad Transit Systems. NextBus® GPS Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) units will be deployed on 164 buses across 72 routes within the Triad Transit Systems. As part of the five year contract, the Company will receive approximately $770,000 in revenue in the first year, which includes hardware, setup and service, and approximately $221,000, primarily as service revenue, for each of the remaining four years. The contract has an additional one year option to extend services.

"This contract win demonstrates our ability to deploy our full service end-to-end NextBus solution across a group of affiliated transit authorities under one umbrella contract. The Triad Transit System recognized not only the benefit of our real-time bus arrival information to riders, but also the benefit of our reporting and monitoring services to support their fleet management," said John Eaton, General Manager of NextBus Inc. "We currently have a number of customers in North Carolina, including Chapel Hill Transit, the University of North Carolina and Elon University. This contract expands our presence in the area and positions us as one of the major providers of real-time passenger information in the region."

"NextBus is a proven product that provides a complete solution to our needs at a reasonable price," said Angela Wynes, Assistant Transit Manager of High Point Transit System.

Under the contract, NextBus will use its patented technology to process data obtained from buses in the Triad Transit Systems to provide real-time, predictive, up-to-the minute information arrival times to users, not just the posted schedule times. Bus arrival information will be available to passengers through a series of 39 newly installed LED signs along the routes, a phone- and website-based traveller information service, the nextbus.com website, as well as cellular and smartphone text messaging. NextBus will also provide Triad Transit Systems fleet managers with a set of monitoring and reporting tools to improve fleet operations and enhance customer service. The Triad Transit Systems is comprised of Greensboro Transit Authority, Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation, High Point Transit Authority and Winston-Salem Transit Authority in North Carolina.
